Coding Instructor (JavaScript or Python) – Coding for kids Alpha Coding

We are looking for coding instructors/teachers who have experience in computer programming (JavaScript or Python; other languages are fine too) and teaching kids and teens between grade 1 to 12 in a fun environment. This is a casual position and part-time position that has the possibility of full-time role during PA days and camps.
Ideal for college/university graduates in computer science or computer engineering that are passionate with teaching and wanting to make a difference in young generations. Also ideal for graduating students who are keen on teaching others, developing computer science curriculum and teaching plans.

Instructor Role
- Lead coding classes and events
- Inspire creativity and curiosity in students
- Present and teach Alpha Coding lesson plans
- Create and develop curriculum, teaching plans/materials, instructions, and train other instructors
- Create safe, comfortable and fun classroom environments
- Work with students to develop their own individual learning path
- Continually develop Alpha Coding curriculum
- Track each student’s progress and provide feedback to parents
- Come up with projects/themes for the class in addition to the existing curriculum
- We also offer programmes at local schools or private tutoring – you may need to travel to these locations
Requirements
- Experience in writing JavaScript or Python, or other object-oriented language; or college/university graduates with a diploma or degree in computer science or computer engineering
- Experience working with and leading kids in learning settings such as school, summer camps
- Experience in teaching or tutoring
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, written and oral
- Comfortable using and/or learning computer, software, hardware, electronics, new technologies
- Reliable, energetic, and well-organized
- Pass a police clearance/vulnerability sector check
Preferred
- Teaching experience, camp counsellor
- Background in computer science / programming, software engineering, computer engineering
- Flexible schedule
- CPR training
- Some customer service and sales experience is ideal
