We are Passionate Software Developers and Educators

Our team consists of software developers, Master’s students, 4th year engineering students, and educators, with varying skills including game development, software engineering, data science, Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, and camp counselor.

Not only our instructors are skilled in various domains, they define and contribute to the creation of engaging teaching materials and curriculum for students of all levels. Alpha Coding instructors are fully vetted for their knowledge and experience as well as their ability to engage young learners.

Stefan
Founder

Stefan has worked for a number of tech start-up and multi-national firms such as Kobo Inc (now acquired by Rakuten, an e-commerce giant), IBM Canada, among others. Stefan holds an Honours Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Toronto, and an MBA.

Stefan has experience tutoring math, computer, and statistics to high school students. Stefan sets the overall direction of Alpha Coding, including curriculum building and partnering with local schools to offer extra-curricular classes in technology and computer science. Stefan’s two young boys are his main inspiration to launch Alpha Coding after learning that they are a part of Generation Alpha.

Wasif
Coding Instructor

Wasif has Bachelor in Technology (Computer Science) and has been teaching coding for almost two years. Wasif specializes in Artificial Intelligence, data science, Big Data, and machine learning. Wasif has years of experience as a full-stack application developer using Microsoft .NET platform; and as a Data Scientist building deep learning model (machine learning) using TensorFlow to forecast future events.

At Alpha Coding, Wasif will be teaching JavaScript and Python. Wasif believes that with the advent of AI and Smart Devices, computers are an integral part of every task we do, therefore it is crucial and beneficial for everyone to learn the language of coding.

Daniela
Coding Instructor

Daniela is a Master’s student at Ryerson University, pursuing an Engineering degree in Computer Networks. She is a telecommunications engineer and has experience as a high school teacher. Daniela was awarded the Y&V Merit Scholarship. She started coding at 15 and is proficient in Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript and HTML.

Daniela will be teaching JavaScript and Python. She has a passion for teaching and is dedicated to building problem solving skills on her students. Her goal is to become a professor in the future.

Maria
Coding Instructor

Maria holds an Honours BSc Specialist degree in Mental Health Studies. Her focus is in technology's influence on human psychology, particularly in learning and behaviour. After discovering a passion for coding during her studies, Maria became a teaching assistant (TA) for 3 years, teaching Python for first-year computer science courses at the University of Toronto. She believes that teaching kids to code is more important now than ever, and that ensuring that the process is fun is the ultimate key to learning.

Since graduating, Maria has never stopped seeking opportunities to learn new things. She has spent 3 years as a full-time gaming influencer, broadcasting and playing video games competitively as well as producing educational and creative content for social media. She has collaborated with numerous gaming organizations, engaged with audiences of all ages around the world, and is highly immersed in the rapidly changing industry. At Alpha Coding, Maria hopes to inspire students to have fun, continuously foster their creativity, and encourage them to never stop striving to learn.

Sara
Robotics/Coding Instructor

Sara is a Master's student at the University of Alberta studying software engineering and intelligent systems. She is also a visiting researcher at York University working on blockchain technology and cloud computing. She has received two international awards in RoboCup competitions and she has more than 4 years of experience coding in C/C++ and Python.

Some of the course work and projects that Sara has completed include machine learning, Software Quality, image processing in Python (handwritten digit and alphabet), among others. She has one year of experience teaching robotics to high school students. At Alpha Coding, Sara teaches Python programming and robotics. Sara loves interacting with kids and she believes learning computer programming improves children's problem-solving skills.

Arezoo
Coding Instructor

Arezoo holds a Master's degree in Mathematics and Statistics, and is proficient in Python, JavaScript, C/C++, C#, and Java. Arezoo has been a software engineering instructor for over a year teaching JavaScript, application programming interfaces (APIs), and web frameworks.

She has also been a teaching assistant for calculus, statistics, mathematical reasoning, discrete math and programming to mathematics and computer sciences. Arezoo enjoys teaching kids because it gives her fulfillment seeing them happy when solving challenges.

Karina
Coding/Robotics Instructor

Karina is in her 4th year at Ryerson University studying Computer Engineering. Karina is proficient in Python, C++, and C. Karina’s accomplishments include Ryerson University Entrance Scholarship recipient, certificate of completion in home automation project using Arduino, sensors, and Internet of Things (IoT) platform, among others.

At Alpha Coding Karina will be teaching TinkerCAD, App Inventor, Scratch and Minecraft as well as helping out in Robotics and Python. Karina believes that learning coding is important for kids because it teaches them to think differently, be creative, and develop wonderful problem-solving skills. She also believes that through coding, kids will gain a new outlook on life and begin their journey in becoming leaders in the Innovation of the future.

Yoland
Robotics/Coding Instructor

Yoland is is a Master's student at York University studying Electrical and Computer Engineering. She has a Bachelor of Engineering degree (Biomedical Engineering) from Ryerson University and has experience teaching Robotics to kids during summer camp programs. Yoland possesses practical and theoretical knowledge in the fields of electrical, computer, and mechanical engineering. Yoland is also proficient in C, C++, MATLAB, and Python.

Some of Yoland’s achievements include Ontario Scholar Award, and TETRA case competition 2018 first place. At Alpha Coding Yoland will be teaching mainly Robotics, but will also be assisting with Python as well as JavaScript. Yoland believes that within every child, there are untapped ideas that they lack the knowledge or tools to bring to life and her goal is to provide them with just that.

Adel
Coding Instructor
Adel is in his last year at the University of Toronto completing a major in Statistics and minors in Computer Science and Math. He has over one year of experience in software development having worked as a Software Developer intern at companies including BlackBerry and is proficient in Python and Java programming.
Adel also worked as a camp counsellor for a few summers and has experience teaching kids and teens private lessons in math, English and trumpet performance. He was the recipient of the RBC Make 150 Count scholarship. At Alpha Coding, Adel will be specializing in Python but also teaching Scratch, TinkerCAD and Minecraft, as well as helping out in JavaScript, App Inventor and Robotics. Adel believes that instilling a strong analytical mindset to younger generations through coding classes will not only give them an edge in any career they might decide to pursue but in all aspects of their lives.

Ali
Robotics/Coding Instructor

Ali is a Software Engineering student at the University of Waterloo. He has been applying his programming knowledge in various fields such as game server development, website development, and robotic system in the past seven years. Ali has been awarded StarterHacks 2020, Canada's largest beginner-focused hackathon. His project has been awarded most promising startup out of over 400 hackers.

Ali has also been a mentor in FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), an international high school robotics competition; and an instructor to teach Mathematics and English. At Alpha Coding, Ali will be teaching robotics, Python, JavaScript, and HTML/CSS.

Sean
Coding Instructor

Sean is a Systems Design Engineering student at the University of Waterloo. He has 2+ years programming experience in Python and has built numerous models and simulations using techniques such as Machine Learning. He has experience working as a data analyst at an innovative data start-up, where he used Python to automate and streamline numerous data cleanup processes. He has a passion for STEM education, previously working at numerous STEM camps where he taught and engaged children of all ages in the amazing world of science and technology.

Sean placed 7th out of 145+ students in GPA in his last term at the University of Waterloo, and has received numerous scholarships, such as the University of Waterloo President's Scholarship of Distinction, and the University of Waterloo Class of 1970 Chemical Engineering Scholarship. He has a passion for teaching science and technology, with nothing bringing him more joy than instilling his passion for programming into the programmers of tomorrow. Sean believes in an involved teaching process, with lots of student engagement and problem solving. He encourages students to be creative and to let their imagination guide their coding, because he believes engaging students’ imagination is key to engaging their mind.

Mayurah
Coding Instructor

Mayurah is currently pursuing a Computer Engineering degree at Ryerson University. She has over 4 years of experience working with children and has been teaching Mathematics for almost 2 years. Mayurah strongly believes in creative learning. She currently teaches Python, Javascript, Minecraft, and Scratch. She is also an avid graphic designer, and is proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, Audition, and Flash animation. 

Some of Mayurah’s achievements include the Ryerson University entrance scholarship, Ontario Scholar Award, International Advocate Scholarship and the Technical Theatre Production and Communication Technology awards. She likes to plan her lessons according to each individual student, to ensure that they have the best learning experience possible. Mayurah believes that learning to code at a young age will kick start a student's success in various fields.

Coding Instructor

Divya is in her 3rd year at University of Toronto studying Computer Engineering. She is proficient in C, C++, Python, Java and Verilog. She was awarded the Michael Lawee Scholarship, Dean's Merit Scholarship, and Dr. John G. Hogeboom Scholarship. Divya's extracurricular activities include a member of Woburn Robotics Team and a violinist.

At Alpha Coding, Divya will be teaching Python, Scratch and App Inventor. She is dedicated to inspiring her students to realize their full potential. She very much enjoys teaching children about technology and its usage in the modern day world.

Jonathon
Coding Instructor

Jonathon has been involved with computer programming in one way or another in the last seven years. Since starting to program, Jonathon has developed a passion for coding and consequently decided to pursue a study in Computer Engineering. Currently Jonathon is going into 4th year in Computer Engineering.

Jonathon has experience teaching coding to kids for about two years, as well as experience as Camp Counselor and Camp Leader. He also tutors Math and Physics. Jonathon is proficient in Python, Java, C/C#, JavaScript, Ruby, HTML and CSS.

Jessica
Coding/Robotics Instructor

Jessica is a second year biomedical engineering student at Carleton University. She has been coding for 4 years and has a love for sharing her knowledge in STEM. She loves getting creative and working on fun projects whether it's coding, building small robots or 3D printing.

Jessica was a coach and leader in the First Robotics Competition of the school's team. She collaborated with other students to build a robot meant to complete various tasks and compete against other schools. Jessica was also a member of St Joan of Arc's Science Olympics team that competed at the University of Guelph - the team won first place in lightbot coding challenge and second place in engineering design challenge.

Adam
Coding Instructor

Adam has notable experience and knowledge in computer programming and robotics. Adam has also worked with kids, both as an instructor and a counselor, for a few years. Currently, Adam is pursuing his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (BCS) at Carleton University. Adam is proficient in Python, Java, HTML, and is always pursuing opportunities to learn more.

Leon
Robotics/Coding Instructor

Leon started coding at 13 years old and is now experienced in developing various software like games and apps. Leon's teaching background includes teaching classes of over 40 kids in various subjects like math, English, science, and music in public and private sectors. Leon is currently pursuing a Computer Science degree at Ryerson University and he has had quite a bit of professional experiences in technology, being an app developer and Systems Administration assistant, and being in various development teams for freelance games.

Some of his current endeavors include teaching Game Design and Development as well as heading his own startup game studio building an MMORPG. He loves pop culture with a fiery passion, and hopes to help children appreciate the things they enjoy more through his coding lessons. Leon's experiences with learning STEM and own personal growth in creativity have inspired him to help bring the same feelings of accomplishment to the youth of today.

Tony and Kat are the faces behind our Customer Care Team here at Alpha Coding. They are a crucial and an integral part of Alpha Coding team to serve our customers seamlessly. They work together to ensure an excellent customer experience as well as to create a smooth and positive educational experience for the Children and Families of Alpha Coding. 

 

Alpha Coding represents much more than a fun interactive learning environment. It is a way to prepare the next generations for the inevitable prominence of technology within our daily lives.
